BUMBLE'S MAKE THE FIRST MOVE, DALLAS

From the moment I began working with Bumble, I wanted the opportunity to put something like Make The First Move, Dallas together & in August of 2018, the chance to put together a scaled version of our SXSW activation for our Dallas market finally came. With the help of my right hand woman, Esther Zhi, and enlisting a small team of volunteers the day of, we were able to put together this comprehensive event that drew in nearly 300 people throughout the day.

For a little background, I started out working for Bumble as one of their first 10 inaugural Queen Bees, hosting a couple events a month, which grew to at times hosting 4,5, or even 6. over the course of 3 years, I Became the dallas - fort worth Community Marketing & Events manager, executing at times up to even 8 events a month, while managing marketing, partnerships, & over 25 city representatives throughout the metroplex. 

The objective of this event was to highlight incredible women in Dallas and to bring the community together for one all encompassing Bumble event that highlighted each of our three verticals: Bizz, BFF, and Date.

I began to conceptualize this event from beginning to end with a small budget & only a little over a month to make it happen. I knew I wanted this event to really feature a diverse background of women who truly represent not only what makes Dallas so great, but also stand behind Bumble’s mission of empowering women. In the end, I gathered a kick-ass group of incredible ladies for everything from our speaker line up to the majority of our vendors!

The event kicked off with a stellar workout sponsored by Outdoor Voices & Grit Fitness on the lawn of The Capital Factory Dallas/ The Dallas Entrepreneur Center. Outdoor Voices donated swag and gift cards, while Core & Hail Merry kept everyone stocked up on the water & snacks for fuel. We also had plenty of Bumble BFF swag bags out and about to reward our guests who started the day off early with us!

Following this, the panel portion of our event began with our Bumble BFF Chat featuring Jenna Owens (Kidd Kraddick Morning Show Host & Owner of fitness and wellness line, Fitish) and Dani Austin (Mega Youtube Influencer & Founder of The Sassy Club). It was fantastic moderating this conversation with these women as we discussed everything from owning a business, to managing your social presence and believing in yourself enough to go after your dreams.

Afterwards, Bumble’s Directory of Business Strategy Priti Joshi hosted our Bumble Bizz Chat featuring Yodit Tewolde (Criminal Defense Attorney, Judge, & CNN Correspondent) and Lynsey Eaton (Lawyer & Co-owner of Estate Five and Tomboy KC). These women are a complete force to be reckoned with and gave attendees information about the reality of being in the world of business and politics and the motivation to step out on a limb.

We rounded out our event with our Bumble Date Chat with the one and only Rachel Lindsay (Attorney & The Bachelorette Season 13). Rachel and I of course, chatted all things Bachelor Nation, but also got into the nitty gritty of what it was like for her to fall in love and build her relationship in the spotlight. Rachel shared with everyone just how worth it it can truly be to step outside of your comfort zone and take a chance on what you want. And all of the added bonuses that can come along with it as well!

Before, after, and in between sessions, guests were able to grab beverages and snacks from all of our delicious vendors like Vita Coco, High Brew Coffee, Austin EastCiders, Hail Merry Snacks, & Live Love Pop. Not to forget they were able to stop by our lounge and create DIY swag bags or get a 180-degree picture taken at our Motus Red Booth, with backdrop dreams created by Social Blueprints DFW & R Love Floral. And last but not least, all of our lovely photography captured by Alex Stone and incredible videography by Peyton Anne Frank.

I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who came to the event or participated in this landmark event in Dallas with us! I couldn’t have done it without you, or my handful of amazing helpers. Cheers to what’s to come!
